Softbot

This soft, shape-shifting robot blob can move and change shape. The project plans to have it able to squeeze through tiny cracks in a wall when the project is finished. They use nice video techniques as well.

Bladeless fan

Dyson has a new bladeless fan. What will they think of next?

Robotic airship

These guys built a low-cost airship named Skittles. Skittles is a wireless robotic blimp complete with 4 reversible propellers, wireless video, and a remote control. These are all high school kids under 17 and obviously have a lot of potential. I am impress.

On Obama Winning the Nobel Peace Prize

They might as well have taken a DUMP on Alfred Nobel’s grave. The credibility of the Peace Prize committee is withered away year by year as it is used as a political tool and public statement.

According to Alfred Noble’s will the Peace Prize shall be awarded to the person whom (with ironic parts in bold):

during the preceding year [...] who shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses.

So the big question is: What did Obama do for World Peace in 2008 before he was inaugurated?

Statist

A statist is a man who believes that some men have the right to force, coerce, enslave, rob, and murder others, as long as it is not for their personal benefit. The basic principle and the ultimate results of all statist doctrines are the same: dictatorship and destruction. The rest is only a matter of time.

Statism

The major wars of history were started by the more controlled economies of the time against the freer ones. World War I was started by monarchist Germany and Czarist Russia, who dragged in their freer allies. World War II was started by the alliance of Nazi Germany with Soviet Russia and their joint attack on Poland.

In World War II, both Germany and Russia seized and dismantled entire factories in conquered countries, to ship them home—while the freest of the mixed economies, the semi-capitalistic United States, sent billions worth of lend-lease equipment, including entire factories, to its allies.

Germany and Russia needed war; the United States did not and gained nothing. (In fact, the United States lost, economically, even though it won the war: it was left with an egregious national debt, augmented by the grotesquely futile policy of supporting former allies and enemies to this day.) Yet it is capitalism that today’s peace-lovers oppose and statism that they advocate—in the name of peace.

The Big Cast Contest

D.H.

You are the call and I am the answer.
You are the wish and I the fufillment.
You are the night and I the day.
What else? It is perfect enough.
It is perfectly complete,
You and I
What more?
Strange how we suffer in spite of this.
But not really.
